Thanks so much! The eye contact was really tough to interpret, but it stood out to me because he spent a lot time doodling or taking notes on a legal pad on sentencing day, but this clearly drew his attention for whatever reason. As for an appeal, that may be poorly worded by me. The defense will absolutely file an appeal, and I need to familiarize myself with what that process actually entails at the next circuit level. I meant to suggest that if it's something where a higher court has to decide whether to hear an appeal leading to anything like a new trial, I don't think there is any grounds for that. But I am new to all of this.

I feel okay letting a little more of the snark out here, as opposed to my articles, which I try to keep completely factual. But Justin Gelfand's entire demeanor just invites snarkiness. And that is no judgment on his skill as an attorney. Multiple times during the trial, he made points that had me thinking "he's doing a good job with what he has to work with." But his voice and his outward persona and his mannerisms when at the podium are...something easy to develop feelings and opinions about.

Am I really the only one applying for the gold star? I think that’s from Rounders!

The gold star was won on reddit, but I guess that means you get Silver!

Your writing is superb! Even reading about a pedophile's sentencing is truly enjoyable. :)

This was really interesting, CC. Especially the way Roberts told the court that Josh has several children.
