Weekend check-in

Holy shit, that was a week…

Hey all. I wanted to write a quick post before I go radio silent for some direly needed recharging time this weekend.

This trial is an absolute horror show.

There’s no other accurate way to describe it. When I first watched a video of a police interview with Mauricio Torres, I held out the possibility that there really was no ill intent and that the entire thing might have been an accident. I had to remain impartial.

After listening to testimony for over a week, I can now say with complete confidence and understanding that I impartially, absolutely understand now why this man’s stepson tried to jump out of the witness box and attack him during a previous hearing. The horrors that multiple witnesses testified about, all inflicted upon them by this one person, are unspeakable. I can’t write about some of them in news articles, except in the broadest of strokes. And I won’t write about them here, because none of you need to read those things or have those images in your head.
