The headline says it all. Entertainment Weekly published an article with that title recently. My feelings about Star Wars and its characters are needlessly strong, and I could probably turn that article into a ten-part blog post, nitpicking nearly every single ranking. But I don’t think anybody wants that. Instead, I’ll go through the list and pick and choose a few rankings to discuss. Spoiler warning in advance if you haven’t consumed all of the on-screen content in a galaxy far, far away.

100. Wicket. This feels low. Sure, he’s a walking teddy bear and his most noteworthy line of dialogue is probably “yub nub.” But love or hate the Ewoks, Wicket is iconic. I loved his return (with his son!) in The Rise of Skywalker.
Story time: I went on a Star Wars-themed Disney cruise with my kids about four years ago. At the time, my daughter was OBSESSED with Wicket. When she learned that the same actor that played him appeared in other Star Wars movies, as well as handling multiple roles in the Harry Potter films, he became her favorite actor.
He was on the cruise, serving as the emcee of some events. I hoped to get the chance for her to meet him, but I knew that everybody else on the cruise was probably hoping for that too, so I wasn’t counting on it. Cut to: very early on in the cruise. Might have been the first full day. I’m about to head into the spa area and who do I see coming out but none other than the man himself.
