The Mar-A-Lago search

Because we need to talk about it.

Obviously, an FBI search of a former President’s residence is going to make headlines. Justifiably so. But I have seen so much misinformation, and so many terrible takes on this event, that I felt compelled to talk about it. So let’s do that.

First, there are the people screaming that it is “unprecedented,” and that part is generally true. Sure. Because the individual at the center of it was also unprecedented…as a President, in his disconnect from the truth, and in the way that he continues to handle himself and inflame his followers. It’s unprecedented because we’ve never had an ex-President with this combination of ego, stupidity, and poor judgment. Throw all of those traits together in a blender, and you end up with what we got here: boxes of top-secret clearance documents literally sitting around in a storeroom where anybody could potentially have access to them.
