I have noticed that I picked up a few new subscribers recently, so to you lovely folks…welcome! I have a free and a subscriber model here, and I try to provide content that is informative, entertaining, and worth everyone’s time to both of those. Feel free to get in touch anytime if you’ve got something I should know, or if there’s something you would like to know or think I should write about.
Today, I’m going to recap the recent mistake I made in replying to a work email.
We get tons of email at the station. Press releases, police reports, public service announcements…you name it. We also get the occasional message from a random person. These tend to be the type of thing that you see mocked or memed online, with people that are just shouting out into the deep, dark void, but feel the need to aim their rage at something news-related.
This one wasn’t sent to me personally, but to our generic newsroom address. I usually just ignore these and get on with my life. I’m not even sure why I chose to respond to this one, but perhaps it was that ever-so-slim chance of possibly helping someone look at things differently.
That…did not happen.
She sent two different emails:
Here’s the first, which was simply titled “Please Explain.”
«It is not only proven but agreed upon that the covid vaccine does NOT stop transmission..so a room full of vaccinated people can spread it and still become sick...as we have seen....as I have seen in my sister twice now. So...those who are unvaccinated pose no real threat to ANYONE more than a fully vaccinated person... So...WHY are those who choose not to take an unproven vaccine that no one will confirm what's actually in it, being discriminated against? I have included a video clip below of a researcher explaining what mRNA is actually doing...which is a main reason people have huge apprehension against the vaccine . My dads dr told him back in 2029 before covid even happened that mRNA technology in a chemo treatment he was offered would change him, that all his labs would need to be redone as he would be essentially a different person. So... Why are anti vaxxers being discriminated against....why is what is essentially an experimental vaccine being pushed when it does not stop transmission. And you cannot convince me or many people who are seeing with thiet own eyes family and frienfs who are fully vaxed yet keep getting severely sick. My parents, brother his kids and myself have not taken the vax at all and we are the only ones in our family who have NEVER gotten sick. Please explain that. Please explain why WE are being discriminated against!»
Then, less than 20 minutes later, this one came in from the same person:
«My sister is fully vaxed. Since that time she had tested positve twice...being severely sick both times. In total she has tested positive 8 times with severe illness 6 of the 8 times.
So. ...
When you report covid case numbers how many of those numbers and hospitalizations are RE INFECTED people ....and of those numbers how many are PARTIALLY OR FULLY VAXED?»
And I responded:
«Dear (redacted),
Thanks for contacting us. The transmission rate is much higher among the unvaccinated than it is with vaccinated individuals. Here's one article about it: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/09/the-vaccinated-arent-just-as-likely-to-spread-covid/620161/
The statistics we report in our daily COVID updates are numbers we receive directly from the Arkansas Department of Health, and unfortunately they do not differentiate between vaxxed and unvaxxed cases. I wish they did, and I would absolutely report those numbers if I had access to them.
As for the vaccines being experimental, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have both been fully approved by the FDA: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/full-fda-approval-of-a-covid-19-vaccine-what-you-should-know

I'm sorry to hear about the cases your family members have had, and I wish the best of health to you and all of them. Thanks again for reaching out.
Sincerely,
C.C. McCandless, Digital Reporter, KNWA/KFTA
I’m sorry but not surprised to say that my reply was not well received. And here I thought that citing outside sources and, you know…facts…might be of value:
«Now I understand. . Lies....you also spread lies. Nice to know you, like the major media stations, are also owned by the evil that is doing this to us .
If you really did care... you would research and tell the people truth .
I guess I will look elsewhere for help... if there is anywhere left.»
Sigh. That’s what I get for trying.
These people make me so…tired.
Your response was great. She was just itching to argue.
Well, you tried. These people have brainwashed themselves so well that is doesn't seem like any amount of peer reviewed sources and even the evidence in front of their own faces will change their minds.
I used to be on the small team of people who worked the email box at a major retailer that was listed on gethuman.com as the best way to reach somebody at the corporate level. And we responded to 100% of the emails we received. Some of the emails were pure insanity. Now I teach at a public high school. Also pure insanity in its own way.
