…I still feel like I’m in a little bit of a rut. Let’s break it down.
THE GOOD:
I got a raise at work. I asked for it awhile ago, and then bringing it up again happened to coincide well with the timing of the Duggar sentencing. Our station has been pushing “digital first” lately as a motto, and I was completely blunt when I told them that if that’s true, I deserved more than they were paying me. They could look at any metrics they wanted. The system doesn’t just track page views, but also engagement time, and there was a week in May when over 70% of time spent on our website was on articles I wrote. That’s obviously a Duggar-centric anomaly, but I thought it still warranted mentioning. My boss agreed that I deserved more.
I did not get what I asked for. But I didn’t expect to. Every little bit helps, and I’m happy to get an increase.
Now, some unexpected good news: I had a station in a bigger market reach out to me out of the blue.
