I just about lost my mind when watching the newest episode of The Book of Boba Fett on Wednesday night.
Most people will not have the same reaction. So I shall explain. Minor spoilers ahead:
As Boba met the Hutt Twins, escorting their litter was an especially gnarly-looking Wookiee—black fur, a massive blaster, and spiked shoulder pauldrons.
Now, I love Wookiees in general. I had a dog named Chewbacca (RIP, Chewie). I have loved Wookiees as a species since I first saw Han’s faithful co-pilot on screen in A New Hope. I get overly excited about any Wookiee. I don’t want to say it’s an obsession, but it’s…a highly fervent level of appreciation for those tall, majestic denizens of Kashyyyk.
Now, this new fellow is not just a “heavy metal-looking Wookiee,” as one co-worker described him. Oh no. He’s so much more.
He is an original character from the recent Marvel comics run that started in 2015, and his name is Black Krrsantan.
Most people will have no reason to know this. And I just can’t live with the thought of people watching the show and thinking, “Oh, cool, a Wookiee!”
I mean…that’s true. But he’s not just another Wookiee. He is a BADASS.
Comic story spoilers ahead:
BK used to work with Boba Fett for Jabba the Hutt. In the past, he has been hired by both that dead, giant slug Jabba and one Lord Darth Vader himself. Santy tangled with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine and lived to talk about it. He fought Han and Chewie. He is, without question, one of my favorite non-canon characters.
Or at least that’s what he was. But now he is IN. I have no idea how they plan to use him on the show, but I could not be more excited to find out.
That’s awesome. Thanks for the detail. I did not recognize him but thought he was pretty badass just in general. I’ve read many of the non canon comics and books, but missed that one. I’m going to have to find it. I have a friend who owns a comic book store so he can probably track it down.
