…and that’s okay.
That big storm that hit a majority of the country rolled through Northwest Arkansas earlier this week, bringing snow and sub-zero temps. I had planned to do a “Christmas Eve Eve” celebration with my kids on Friday, but with the weather and conditions very much in doubt, we held our little, early celebration even earlier. They’ll be enjoying the weekend with their mother.
Below: A co-worker set up a full hot chocolate station in the breakroom at work and it was lovely. I brought in some cookies (not pictured)
So I’m chilling at home today and tomorrow, and then covering the 5:30 AM shift at work on Monday. The holidays can be tough for some people, especially when you are alone, but I’ll be fine. If you’re out there and you’re feeling lonely or you aren’t okay for any reason, feel free to get in touch. I hope that everybody has a great holiday however you see fit, whether that is through celebrating, or…not. Some of my most memorable Christmases past are ones that happened during less-than-ideal circumstances. Yours might be too.
Substack told me that including that “give a gift subscription” button above is a great idea for last-minute shoppers. I think that’s kind of hilarious, but there it is in case anybody wants it.
And even more absurd is this:
Five.me
I don’t even remember where I first heard about this, but I signed up for it a few weeks ago. For a small fee (I picked the first number that seemed appropriate and came to mind), we can exchange video messages about whatever you like. I think it has mainly been pitched as a “consulting” service, which I guess makes sense. But I’m happy to talk about whatever you might be interested in—stories that I have done, cases that I have covered, news in general, writing tips, how I got into the business…basically anything along those lines. I can’t imagine that this is going to be of interest to many (any?) people, but just in case it is…there you go. And if anyone is interested in it, I look forward to learning more about you, dear readers!
Have a great weekend, everyone., Remember…calories don’t count until 2023 and there are no rules about eating, day-drinking, or doing anything else that helps get you through the rest of this bizarre year however you need to. Thanks for being here. I truly appreciate you!
