There are times when I get really dialed in at work, and I just write one story after another, with no human input at all, and it can feel like I’m just firing them off into the void. I know that people read them, and higher-ups are checking my work behind the scenes. But I could do most of my stories in something close to total solitude.
This was not the case the other day, as three stories I wrote required various forms of interaction with other people.
The first was an article that got me a one-on-one sit-down with our news director. She’s great, but this inherently feels very much like getting called into the principal’s office on the rare occasions that it happens.
