I’m the third former member of KNWA currently working at FOX5 in Las Vegas. After they hired me, there were jokes about how at this point, they basically look at my old station in Fayetteville like a minor league affiliate, where they can just reach out and call up talent as needed.
That comparison is apt, because working here distinctly feels like I’m in a different league.
I’ve said this before, but I want to repeat it: anything I say along those lines is not meant to disparage my former employer in the least. They are just wildly different markets. For example, there were sometimes days in Fayetteville when I’d head to work hoping that I’d come up with a decent story to cover.
In Las Vegas, there has been no need for wishing or hoping of any kind, because the stories Do. Not. Stop.
Naturally, I expected a difference. But actually working with the degree of content on this new level has been an adjustment. I do think I’m settling in well and contributing to the team, but I’m still astounded by how quickly and efficiently things get done here.
